The Magic of Flight

Experience the thrill of a Blue Angels air show while learning of the science and history of flight. Featuring cutting edge aerial photography, this is the story of human potential and the importance of training and performance.
In The Magic of Flight, we are inspired by a bird’s innate ease to take flight and review early flight attempts, as well as the ultimate successful flight of the Wright Brothers in 1903. The variety and versatility of today’s flying machines are also displayed throughout the film. We learn how the Harrier jet mimics a bird’s landing and take-off. The jet can be delicately maneuvered at slow speeds yet capable of moving over 500 mph. We also witness naval aviators, with the ability to fly up to 1,300 mph, precisely land on an aircraft carrier, the most difficult maneuver in all of aviation.

Mystery Of The Maya

Witness the splendor of the Mayan civilization through the discovery of their pyramids, palaces and temples. Deep within the jungles of Mexico and Guatemala, and extending into the Yucatan Peninsula lie the fabled pyramids, temples and palaces of the Maya. While Europe still slumbered in the midst of the dark ages, these innovative people had charted the heavens, evolved the only true writing system native to the Americas and had made tremendous strides in the areas of mathematics and calendars. Without the advantage of metal tools, beasts of burden or even the wheel, they were able to construct vast cities with an amazing degree of architectural perfection and variety. Filmed on location at numerous sacred sites throughout Central America including the ruins at Palenque, Tikal, Tulum, Chichen Itza, Copan and Uxmal, Mystery of the Maya explores the culture, science and history of this people.

The film offeres an inspiring and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope’s [HST's] legacy and highlight its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves. Hubble 3D is an IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures production, in cooperation with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The film reunites the Space Station 3D filmmaking team, led by Producer/Director Toni Myers. Hubble 3D blasted off exclusively to IMAX and IMAX 3D theatres on March 19, 2010."

The film's itinerary takes the viewer past Saturn's aurora, the Helix Nebula in the constellation of Aquarius, the "Pillars of Creation" in the Eagle Nebula, the Andromeda galaxy, and the beautiful Butterfly Nebula. The HST has provided data and imagery so detailed that scientists and film technicians have been able to put viewers "inside" the images during two extended CGI fly-throughs.
